Mini Beauty Haul- ATL Trip

IMG_4436

Hi Dolls!!! I missed you all so much, it feels like I haven’t posted in forever! This post is long over due, since I took my trip to Atlanta, Georgia, the beginning of April, and it’s now May (covers face). I had an amazing time in Atlanta with my family! Not only did I stuff my face with food from some of the best restaurants ATL had to offer, but I visited places like The King Center ,The Aquarium, Lenox Square, and brought back some goodies that I wanted to show you all.

Amount of Product

0.19 Oz/5.5 g

Allure

(A dusty rose pink shimmer)

Pros

Very pigmented

Works well into the skin

Looks great on all skin tones

Cons

Lots of fallout

Overall Thoughts:

This is my first Illamasqua makeup purchase, aside from the nail lacquer I purchased months ago. I decided to pick this item up, because I’ve always heard great things about the brand especially their blushes. And since I received a Sephora gift card from my sister for Christmas, it only felt right to purchase some new items. This blush is gorgeous from the blush itself to the packaging:  It has tiny gold sparkles in it, it’s really pigmented, and it gives this flush of healthy glow to the skin. I find that using this blush the best way is with a blush blush and a light hand. I got a lot of fallout when applying it onto the cheeks, but tapping the excess can keep the fallout to a minimal. Overall, I’m happy with the product and I know I’ll get a lot of use of it in the summer.

Shade
Basic Brown
Pros
Long-wearing
Oil-free

Vitamin E
Cons
Can be a tad bit messy, but you can opt for the pressed powder

Overall Thoughts:
As much as I like the Black Opal powder, I noticed it didn’t last throughout the day. I often found myself, reapplying it after lunch. After finishing my Black Opal loose powder, I decided to try a new product. I headed to Sephora, where I purchased my very first Bobbi Brown product. I picked up the Sheer Finish Loose Powder and I’m happy I did! If you have oily skin like me, then this product will work wonders for you. It’s lightweight, absorbs oil, and leaves my face with little to no oil or shine (after 9 hours). During workdays, I prefer concealer and powder for a natural look. This powder sets my concealer in place, and gives me a flawless finish. Bobbi Brown offers a total of 10 shades, including the newer shades: Golden Brown, and Warm Chestnut. I’m excited for my next Bobbi Brown purchase 😉

Any recommendations for my next Bobbi Brown purchase?

Pros
Glides on smoothly
Long-wearing
Crease-proof
Conceals all imperfections

Cons
Not enough product; I finished my first concealer within 2 months

Overall Thoughts:
Nars states, Brilliantly obscures imperfections and dark spots with a creamy, vitamin-rich formula that nourishes the skin for all-day wear. Crease-proof and easily blendable for a flawless finish”. This concealer does everything mentioned in the statement. I initially purchased the shade Amande, but after achieving an amazing flawless finish, I decided to make my way back to Sephora to purchase 2 more shades: highlightcolor (Caramel), and a contour color (Cacao). I love using all 3 shades, and setting my face with my Nars powder for a completed look. These concealers are a definite staple!

Product Review: NARS Duo Concealer

Availability & Pricing
 Nars store
Nars.com
Sephora
$30

Amount of Product
0.14 Oz/ 4g

Shade
Praline/Toffee

Pros
Very creamy, blends well into skin
Conceals imperfections
Great for highlighting

Cons
Last about 4-6hrs on the skin, before settling into lines
More shades offered to woc

Overall Thoughts:
When it comes to concealer, there are key components I look for when selecting a concealer: to cover imperfections, staying power, and intermittently for highlighting underneath the eyes. During workdays, I opt for concealer and loose powder to achieve a simple and natural look. This concealer does a great job blending into the skin, and covering imperfections. However, this concealer didn’t last long on my skin. I also noticed it settled into fine lines, and for these reasons, I won’t repurchase this item.

Have you tried any concealers from Nars?
