April Beauty Empties

IMG_4506

It’s incredulous how fast this year is going. May is here and before we know it, Summer will be in full swing. Lately, I’ve been trying to use up as many beauty products, ranging from 3-6 products a month. This has helped me rediscover some products in my kit, as well as make room for future purchases. In the month of April, I found myself reaching for some of my favorites that I would re-purchase, and others not so much. Below I listed my empties for the month of April.

Feel free to share your April empties!

Pros

Very creamy, blends well into skin

Great for highlighting, if your a WOC

Cons

Very glittery

Overall Thoughts:

This is one of my very first Nars creme blush purchases. To be quite honest, I  have a love/hate relationship with creme blushes. I purchased this blush on sale for $10 from Sephora.com. I hardly ever wear creme blush, butif I do decide to,  I prefer to wear creme blush in the Winter. Just from swatching the blush, I can’t wear this product as a blush, it’s better used as a highlighter on my complexion.  But, if used as a blush, it works well as a base for a powder blush. In all honesty, I would not re-purchase this product.  There are other creme blushes Nars offers that would compliment my skin-tone, and don’t require much work like this one. I definitely can’t wait to try other creme blushes that are WOC friendly from the Nars brand.

Overall Thoughts:
Ladies and Gents, this concelaer is a Holy Grail staple for me. This concealer goes above and beyond, by concealing under-eye circles, and creating a luminous and flawless finish. The sales associate at Sephora urged me to get it, so I went out on a limb and I’m glad I did. I apply this product: under my eyes, down the center of my nose, and my forehead. I then set it with a setting powder (2 shades lighter than my skin tone) to achieve a highlighted effect. This concealer is great for any skin type, and there are 10 shades to choose from. I will definitely re-purchase this product.

Cons
Not enough product; I finished my first concealer within 2 months

Overall Thoughts:
Nars states, Brilliantly obscures imperfections and dark spots with a creamy, vitamin-rich formula that nourishes the skin for all-day wear. Crease-proof and easily blendable for a flawless finish”. This concealer does everything mentioned in the statement. I initially purchased the shade Amande, but after achieving an amazing flawless finish, I decided to make my way back to Sephora to purchase 2 more shades: highlightcolor (Caramel), and a contour color (Cacao). I love using all 3 shades, and setting my face with my Nars powder for a completed look. These concealers are a definite staple!

Shade
Praline/Toffee

Pros
Very creamy, blends well into skin
Conceals imperfections
Great for highlighting

Cons
Last about 4-6hrs on the skin, before settling into lines
More shades offered to woc

Overall Thoughts:
When it comes to concealer, there are key components I look for when selecting a concealer: to cover imperfections, staying power, and intermittently for highlighting underneath the eyes. During workdays, I opt for concealer and loose powder to achieve a simple and natural look. This concealer does a great job blending into the skin, and covering imperfections. However, this concealer didn’t last long on my skin. I also noticed it settled into fine lines, and for these reasons, I won’t repurchase this item.

Have you tried any concealers from Nars?

Product Review: NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder

Hey Dolls, I’m back again with a product review. I made a visit to Sephora just to try out the new Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder in Translucent Crystalfrom Nars. I know, I know…..another Nars product. It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with Nars, because I haven’t found one product that failed me. According to Nars, “Enhances the look of foundation without a trace of color and prolongs makeup wear. This invisible silky powder is infused with Photochromic Technology to diffuse light and adjust to new sources of light throughout the day”. If you have combination/oily skin you may need this product in your life. With the help of monistat chafing gel as a primer for my BB cream, this powder sets my makeup in place, with little to no oil (I had to blot at least once, after 6hrs). I love the fact that the powder is translucent, so when I apply my foundation (Macao), which is a perfect match, the powder doesn’t alter the color. So far, so good!

Pros
Finely milled loose powder
Matte Finish/No shine
Blends well
Conceals fine lines, wrinkles, and pores
Light-weight on the skin

Cons
Can get a tad bit messy

Overall Thoughts:

This is one of my favorite powders at the moment. My only concern was, when running late, and trying to apply my makeup in the car (loose powder = a mess). If loose powder is not in your favor, you can opt for the pressed powder version. Both products are equally priced. Aside from the mess that it can make, I absolutely love this product. This powder is very light, and I find myself reaching for it everyday to set my Iman BB cream. So far, this is a staple product for me.
Have you tried any new products lately?

Product Review: NARS Exhibit A Blush

I’ve never been the one to jump on the bandwagon for hyped beauty products. In actuality, I just watched many reviews on Youtube, and read many blogs about the product, but never felt the need to run out to buy it. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see that I picked up a few goodies, including this hyped blush. I honestly believe I’m the last to purchase the Nars blush Exhibit A. This blush is like nothing I own in my collection. Exhibit A is described as a matte, red blush. I actually stumbled on this product, when I visited my local Sephora for other re-purchases. I think I passed by it 2-3 times, and finally decided to get it. Well, It’s officially been 3 weeks, since I’ve had it in my possession. Truthfully, this is one of my top 5 favorite blushes I own.

Pros
Finely powder blush

Highly pigmented
Sleek packaging
Cons
A bit pricy for some

Overall Thoughts:

I’m in love with this blush! I thought my LaFemme blush in Orange did it for me, but this blush is EVERYTHING. I use a light hand when applying the blush, because it’s indeed very pigmented, and a little goes a long way. Many already know that I possess a Nars obsession. Their products just work for me. Aside from my Nars Dolce Vita & Nars Orgasm, this is the third blush I own from the Nars brand. I will definitely be adding many more Nars blushes to my collection!
