Nars Wild at Heart Palette

Hey Dolls! So………I’ve been so LAZY this past week, and this review is way overdue. I purchased the Nars palette from Narscosmetics.com last month. I know………..last month :-/ but I wanted to show some swatches, and my opinion of the “Wild at Heart Palette”. This palette was created to celebrate 15 years of Nars Cosmetics existence, and it’s exclusive dolls ;-). I absolutely love Nars, and we all know Nars is not cheap. A single blush from Nars can cost you $26, and a single eye shadow is $23. You do the math….. I bought the palette for $75.It consists of four eye shadows, four lip glosses, one blush, and a multiple. I love the packaging, it’s soooo sheek.

Eyeshadows from left to right:
Abyssinia, Alhambra, Ashes to Ashes, Pandora

Lipglosses from left to right: Baby Doll, Red Lizard, Manhunt, Fire Down Below

Now, I will say this palette is more a natural look. The only pop of color you get is from the lip glosses. This palette can be used on ANY skin-tone. If you have a skin-tone like mine or darker, the blush will not show up. Make sure to add a cream base blush to the apple of the cheeks to make the infamous “Orgasm” pop. Great for travel, and light-weight to put in your purse.  There is another palette similar to this one, but it consists of many blues. That palette wouldn’t benefit me, since I have my MAC eye shadow palette. My MAC palette has every color under the sun. Okay, enough rambling………Let me know what favorite Nars products are?

Katy Perry Look @ the 2011 Grammys

I know this look is a bit old, but I just had to mimic it. Katy Perry wore this look to the 2011 Grammys, and it definetly screams Spring!!!! “Diva Mode”. The eyes, lips, and cheeks have a lot of drama, which I LOVE….. I listed the products I used below.

Face:    MAC Studio fix fluid in NC50
Rock & Republic Exhibition pressed powder in Angora to set face
Eyes:   MAC Jungle Moon e/s (Limited Edition) -in the outer v
            MAC Bronze e/s- brow bone
            MAC Humid e/s-lower lash line
LASplash mineral e/s in Empress-3/4 of the eyelid
            Prestige liquid eyeliner
            Covergirl lashblast volume mascara
Cheeks: NYX Rouge cream blush in Hot Pink
Lips:    Rimmel London lipstick in Dizzy
This look can be worn day or night. I didn’t add false lashes, but doing so can really amp up the look. Feel free to leave any questions.

Rock&Republic Face Powder

Finally……..I just got the Rock & Republic Exhibition Pressed Powder in the mail today. The packaging is adorable, and sleek. I’ve always heard good things about R&R products, and I decided to give it a try myself. I’ve searched high and low for tutorials and reviews on the pressed powder for women of color. Can you believe I only came across two?!?!?! I purchased the pressed powder from Hautelook for $13.50,great buy right?!I received the item four days later, after ordering online.

I got the R&R pressed powder in “Angora”(.32oz/9g). I normally wear a NW43 in MAC’s Studio Fix powder, and Angora appears a bit darker than my MAC powder. To be honest, I was a bit nervous it would appear too dark on me. I used my MAC studio fix Foundation in NC50, and set my face with the R&R powder. I am pleased with the results. It’s lightweight and blends well.

Victoria Secret Limited Edition Lipstick

Hey Dolls, I’m here again with another review. It’s Springtime, and what better way to bring out the color Coral. Coral is such a beautiful color on any type of skin-tone. Victoria’s Secret came out with a limited edition of vibrant colors for this Spring. I purchased the lipstick in the color, “Heartbeat”(3.5g/.12oz). I’m so fascinated with the packaging. The lipstick tube is gold with a zebra-like pattern, and hot pink in the inner tube. Well done with the packaging VS!I would describe this lipstick as a coral lustre, and a tad lighter than MAC’s lipstick in Touch. There are three other colors to choose from; Pulse, Instinct, and Heated.
Make sure to moisture the lips before applying. This will definitely be a staple item for me this Spring.

Tell me what your Spring favorites are?

Crazy for GaGa

My favorite nude lipstick is MAC’s Touch, but the Gaga 2 may make touch take a backseat.MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick ($14.50 for 0.10 oz.) is described as “light warm beige.” It’s a peach-tinged pale beige-nude with an amplified finish. The amplified finish gives is a creamier consistency, more color pigmentation, and a semi-matte finish.I absolutely love the packaging, and the Gaga signature. If your a dark shade like me, then I would recommend filling in the lips with a brown lip liner. Apply the lipstick, and then finish with a sheer nude or clear lip-gloss. I wore the Gaga 2 lipstick to a friend’s dinner party at a comedy club downtown. If I were given $1 for every comment I received on the Gaga lipstick last night, I would be a millionaire 😀

Remember, “ALL monies raised go to the M∙A∙C AIDS Fund to help support people living with HIV/AIDS”. You’re making a difference by looking fabulous with this new lipstick.
